"Why is learning important to you and how has it impacted your life?"
Learning, it is something that shapes our futures. Without it we would be lost in this world. I like to think that if your constantly learning, you are constantly evolving and growing as a person.
Attending school was and is something I have struggled with due to mental health circumstances, but luckily there is alternatives to traditional schooling. The program I am in is the independent study program. I get a text book to work on and work on it throughout the week, and I come in once a week to turn in my work and test. I went into the program not anywhere close to being on track to graduate, and now I'm 20 credits away from graduating.
I had to learn a lot about time management doing independent study. I have learned a lot without going to a traditional classroom, things I wouldn't have if I stayed in the classroom. I have leaned to be independent, for the most part. Learning is something you need to want to successfully understand and be good at.
I have been taking classes at my local community college for the past year and it is very different from what I'm used to. I'm used to working at my own pace and doing my own thing. I can still do my own thing, I just have to change it up a little. My pace was a little too slow for what was expected of me. So, I had to adjust and learn to be a college student. It was difficult at first, but I got into the groove of getting on the city bus for 2 hours every school day, and turning in work I was proud of. I did that for a couple semesters, now I am now taking an online college course through my local community college, a web design class.
I have had to learn to adjust to a lot of things life has thrown at me and also what I have invited into my life, such as college. It takes a lot to get used to a change, but learning to know when to let the change happen and invite it, that takes quite a bit of trial and error. Eventually, all this learning we learn in life pays off. We learn not to cry when we don't get our way, then we learn that our way isn't always the right way, and that there was no need to want to cry in the first place.
Believing that there is always more to learn is a very ambitious thing to say. I think there is always more to understand and learn. Learning really is a life-long, skill-building, exercise that we humans will be doing for a long time.
